Day 1: Arrival in Delhi (Capital city of India)

Welcome to Delhi! Upon your arrival, our friendly local guides will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel for check-in. After you’ve had a chance to freshen up, feel free to step out and explore the vibrant surroundings. The Hanuman Monkey Temple, a famous site in Delhi, is just around the corner. Known for its lively atmosphere and rich history, it offers a great introduction to the city's religious and cultural heritage.

In the afternoon, we’ll take you on a visit to the iconic India Gate, India's largest war memorial. Erected in honor of the soldiers who lost their lives in various wars, this monumental structure stands as a symbol of courage and sacrifice. The area is always bustling with visitors from around the world, making it a great spot to absorb the energy of Delhi. As evening falls, we invite you to enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel, where you can savor a variety of local  dishes.

Day 2: Delhi to Una, Then Depart to Dharamshala

Board the Vande Bharat Express early in the morning from New Delhi Railway Station. The Vande Bharat Express is a high-speed train, so it will ensure you reach your destination quickly and comfortably.Enjoy a light breakfast on board the Vande Bharat Express. On reaching Una Railway Station, you will be greeted by your driver for the onward journey to Dharamshala. On arrival check into the hotel and free for the rest of the day.

Day 03: Spiritual Journey - Home of the Dalai Lama

After a relaxing breakfast at your hotel, spend your morning wandering through the peaceful village of McLeod Ganj. Venture to the picturesque Naddi village, surrounded by stunning views of the Himalayas. Enjoy the "flag area," a serene spot adorned with Tibetan prayer flags, a reminder of the region's deep spirituality.   Treat yourself to a simple yet authentic lunch with a local shepherd family, an experience that offers a taste of rural life. (Note: This is available at an additional cost.)

 In the afternoon, take some time to visit the Dalai Lama Temple, a significant spiritual site for Tibetan Buddhism. Afterward, you’ll return to your hotel for an early evening, where you'll have a brief orientation for the upcoming trek the following day.

Day 04: Trek to Kareri Camp ( 13 Km Trek 2250 mts.)

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we set off for our trekking adventure! We begin with a transfer to our starting point, and then embark on the trek. The first few kilometers are relatively gentle, with undulating terrain, until we reach Satobari Village. From here, we start our descent through scenic pine forests, heading toward Ghere Village.

We take a break at a beautiful mountain stream, perfect for a relaxing lunch. Why not cool off with a quick dip in the refreshing waters before we continue our journey?

After lunch, we face a steep ascent for about two hours, leading us to Kareri Village. Here, we’ll set up camp near the Laund River, where we'll spend the night under the stars.

Day 5: Kareri to Bal Village (14 km. trek 2320 mts. )

After a magical first night under the stars, the trek resumes with a gradual ascent, allowing you to ease into the day. Traverse charming villages that offer glimpses of local culture and traditions. Pass through open meadows and towering pine forests, immersing you in pristine nature.

 Descend briefly to a picturesque mountain stream, where you'll pause for a refreshing meal and enjoy the soothing sounds of flowing water. The post-lunch section includes a sharp ascent to Bal Village, rewarding your effort with stunning vistas and a sense of accomplishment.

Day 6: Bal Village to Triund (Trekkers’ Paradise) ( 10 km trek 2875 mts.)

Start the day by crossing a suspension bridge, an exhilarating way to kick off the trek. Ascend through lush rhododendron and pine forests for approximately two hours, with the forest trail offering a tranquil and shaded trek. Pause at a local tea shop, a perfect opportunity to rest, sip on some freshly brewed chai, and soak in the surroundings. The area is alive with sights and sounds of Gaddi Tribal people moving their cattle to high pastures, giving a glimpse into their traditional lifestyle.

After lunch, continue the climb towards Triund, passing through mesmerizing landscapes. Arrive at your campsite set on an alpine meadow, offering panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar mountain range. The serene beauty of Triund, often called “Trekkers' Paradise,” creates a perfect spot for reflection and relaxation under the stars.

Day 7: Triund to Laka Got, and Triund ( 14 km Trek 3300 mts.)

Day 8: Triund to Bhagsu Nag ( 9 km Trek 1750 mts.)

Descend steeply to the Bhagsu Nallaha stream. Experience an adventurous crossing over the boulders, assisted by local guides, adding a fun and dynamic element to the trek. Reach Bhagsu Nag, a place of spiritual and natural beauty. Visit the divine temple and explore the natural springs, a tranquil conclusion to your trek.

After your visit to Bhagsu Nag, take a walk back to the hotel, where modern comforts await. End the evening with a celebratory dinner, reflecting on the journey and accomplishments of the past days. Day 09: Skyway to Dharamsala - Una Vande Bharat to Delhi

Start your day with a satisfying breakfast at the hotel.  Later we walk up to Mcleodganj to experience the scenic Skyway Cable Car ride from McLeod Ganj to Dharamsala. This new addition offers breathtaking aerial views of the lush valleys and mountains, making for a memorable descent.

After your cable car journey, travel by road to Una train station. The scenic drive provides one last opportunity to take in the natural beauty of Himachal Pradesh. Vande Bharat Express to Delhi: Board the high-speed Vande Bharat Express train for a comfortable and efficient journey to Delhi. Relax in the air-conditioned coach and enjoy the views along the way.

 Upon arrival, you'll transfer to your hotel in Delhi. End the day with a delicious dinner and settle in for a restful night at your hotel. This day seamlessly combines adventure, convenience, and comfort as you transition from the peaceful mountains to the bustling cityscape of Delhi.

Day 10: Delhi to Agra

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of accommodation will be provided during the Dalai Lama trek?

During the trek you will be provided tent on double sharing basis. Before and after trek you will be staying in a decent hotel on double or twin sharing basis.

What kind of clothes we need to carry for the trek?

We would need dry fit clothes, good walking socks, good quality waterproof jackets and good pair of water proof hiking shoes. Trekking pole is also recommended

What are other things that we should carry?

We would recommend you to carry water purifier tablets, anti bacterial hand gel mosquito spray, wet wipes and lot of sunscreen.

What type of Toilet facility will be there?

At every campsite, there will be toilet tents with dug in style.

Will there be phone network?

Phone and wifi reception will be limited throughout the trek.

Do we get too see Dalai lama if he is in town?

We need special permission from his local office in Mcleodganj to visit Dalai Lama.

What are the stay options at the top?

There are couple of options to stay starting from forest guest house which can be pre booked, two private lodge and you can also rent camps too.

How fit do I need to be?

The trek climbs into the foothills of the Himalayas, up to a maximum of 3000m. The route isn’t technical as long as you are reasonably fit. It is best to be well prepared and to have undertaken some training back in the UK so you are familiar with moving over mountainous terrain. You don’t need to be a marathon runner though! A general rule of thumb is if you can walk on average for 4-6 hours a day for two consecutive days back-to-back and have walked in a mountainous environment beforehand so you are familiar with walking up a hill and the terrain, you will be more than ready.

What food do I need to bring with me?

Meals are provided on the trek although it is advisable to bring some home comforts with you and your favourite snacks. Whilst trekking, it may be hot so chocolate is not recommended. Muesli bars you can eat during the day are a great idea as are packets of nuts, seeds and dried fruit.

Will I have to carry all my gear on the mountain?

The simple answer is no. The muleteers will carry your luggage on the trek but you’ll be required to carry what you need during the day. A 20-25 litres rucksack will be ideal for carrying water, food, personal items, spare clothes and first aid.

What is the required amount that I should tip?

In many countries around the world, tipping is part of the culture and in India is standard practice. Tips in restaurants are normally in the region of 10-15% and boost the earnings of the local people.
