Tour Route: McLeod Ganj – Triund – Laka Got – Lahesh Cave
Embark on the Snow Line Trek starting from McLeod Ganj in Dharamshala, winding through a diverse landscape of deodar, oak, and rhododendron forests, leading to the renowned camping grounds of Triund and Laka Got. The McLeod Ganj to Snow Line trek via Triund offers a low to moderate level of difficulty, making it accessible to a wide range of trekkers.
This trek follows a well-trodden path used by the Gaddi shepherds as they journey to their summer grazing pastures in the upper Raavi Valley and Lauhal. Despite any challenges encountered along the way, the breathtaking views offered by this trek more than make up for it. To the south, trekkers are treated to mesmerizing views of the Indian plains, while to the north, the Moon peak and the snow-capped Dhauladhar Mountains create a stunning backdrop.
Situated in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas, Triund offers a breathtaking trek through mixed forests of deodar, oak, and rhododendron. The lush greenery and diverse flora make for a picturesque journey, with every step revealing new wonders of nature. The cool mountain air and serene atmosphere add to the charm of this walk, making it a truly unforgettable experience for hikers and nature enthusiasts alike. The scenic views of snow-capped peaks and panoramic landscapes further enhance the beauty of the trail. With its varying terrain and stunning natural beauty, Triund is a popular destination for trekkers seeking adventure and solace in equal measure. Whether you are an experienced trekker or a novice explorer, this hike promises an enriching and unforgettable experience amidst nature's bountiful gifts.
Today marks one of the most demanding days of our trek. Following breakfast, we will continue our ascent to Lahas Cave, a temporary shepherd campsite located at the edge of a small glacier. This leg of the journey will offer us the unique opportunity to traverse the glacier in order to reach Lhas Cave. While the trek may be strenuous, the breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment make it well worth the effort. Lhas Cave serves as an overnight shelter for shepherds guiding their sheep over the mountain. After our visit, we will make our way back to Triund for our overnight stay.
For the return journey, you can either retrace your steps along the same route or opt for a more scenic path by following the grassy ridge that will take you to Bhagsu Nag Temple. Along the way, you will encounter a charming small waterfall. From Bhagsu Nag, Mcleodganj is easily accessible by road, just 1.5 kilometers away.
