Duration : 1 full day
Embark on a journey after an early breakfast, traversing through picturesque tea gardens, enchanting pine forests, and charming villages of the Kangra valley. After a two-hour drive, we arrive at the magnificent Masroor Rock-cut Temples. These ancient temples, dating back to the 8th century, showcase exquisite Indo-Aryan architectural style, carved from a single sandstone rock. They stand as the sole rock temples in northern India. Following our visit to Masroor, we proceed to explore the historic Kangra Fort, located near Kangra town.
A visit to the Brajeshwari Devi temple in Kangra is highly recommended. The bustling market outside the temple complex offers a unique shopping experience. Continuing our journey, we head to the Norbulingka Institute, a 40-minute drive away.
Norbulingka Institute is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving traditional Tibetan art and craft. Allow yourself at least an hour to explore the various sections of Norbulingka, immersing yourself in the rich cultural heritage it has to offer.
