A LITTLE HELP WITH THE PLANNING

Which North India trip suits you?

North India tours can bring together mountain walking, local culture and time to slow down. Start with the experience you want, then build a realistic route around your travel days.

01 / WALK

Short hikes from Dharamshala

For a mountain day without carrying overnight equipment, consider the Triund Day Hike or A Walk in the Hills. Choose according to your walking experience and the hours you can comfortably spend on the trail. Shorter trips still involve uneven ground and uphill sections.

02 / STAY OUT

Camping & multi-day treks

The Triund Trek and Laka Glacier Trek offer more time in the Dhauladhar landscape. Discuss the permitted campsite, tent sharing, meals and equipment before booking. Route names do not guarantee snow, glacier access or camping at a particular spot.

MAKE ROOM FOR THE JOURNEY

Plan around your pace

Allow time to reach Dharamshala, settle in and meet the team before a trek. Keep onward travel flexible after longer mountain routes. Your itinerary should reflect walking ability, altitude, daylight and road transfers rather than simply fitting the greatest number of stops into each day.

For a private tour, tell us whether you prefer local food, monasteries, villages, photography or relaxed time in the mountains. We can discuss guide arrangements, transport and accommodation separately so you understand what your proposed trip includes.

Dates, conditions & preparation

There is no single best season for every North India itinerary. Lower trails, high passes and cultural routes have different weather patterns and access requirements. Share your intended dates early and confirm trail conditions, permissions and the final route close to departure.

Before paying, ask for the confirmed itinerary, meeting point, inclusions, exclusions and cancellation terms. Carry footwear with good grip and the layers recommended for your route. Our responsible travel guide explains how to travel thoughtfully; the Dharamshala guide can help you plan your local stay.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

North India tour & trek FAQs

Can you customize a North India tour?

Yes. Share your dates, number of travellers, preferred pace and interests. The team will discuss a suitable route and confirm the services and price before you book.

Which trek should a beginner choose?

Start by discussing a day hike or short trek around Dharamshala. Tell us about your usual activity and any previous walking experience. The right choice depends on fitness, weather and route conditions, not duration alone.

Can I join a group as a solo traveller?

Ask the team about availability for your dates. A trip listed here does not mean there is a scheduled group departure. Private arrangements may be available if no suitable group is operating.

How do I enquire about a trip?

Open a tour or trek and complete “Enquire about this trip” with your name, email, mobile number, traveller count and date. Select YES if you need customizations and add your ideas in the message field.

Are transport and accommodation included?

Inclusions vary by trip. Check the individual itinerary and request a written confirmation covering transfers, guides, meals, equipment, accommodation and any permits or entry fees.
