Kareri Trek 4250 m ( 3 Nights 4 Days )

Kareri lake is a high altitude, fresh water lake of the Dhauladhar range and is also known for being favorite trekking destination of this area. The lake remains frozen in winters and when the snow melts it serves as the source of lake and a stream. Kareri lake sevres as a base for trekking further into the Dahuladhar and onward to Chamba and Bharmour via Minkiani  Pass (4250m ) and Baleni Pass (3710m).

Day 1: - Dharamshala (Macleod Ganj) to Kareri - 2,000 m.

After breakfast we commence the first day of our trek which is an 11km walk towards Kareri village located at a height of 2000 m above sea level. The first few kilometers covers undulating landscape until we reach Satobari Village, after that it is a descent through pine forests upto Ghere Village. The next two hours is a ascent till Kareri village where we set up camp next to the Laund River.Overnight stay in tents.

Day 2:- Kareri to Reyot Camp - 2,500 m.

The next day's trek of 7 km from Kareri village to towards Reyot camp at an altitude of 2600 m is an easy to moderate trek with a few steep descents. This is a Himalayan hamlet with a stream which arises from the Kareri Lake. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 3:- Reyot Camp to Kareri Lake – 2934 m.

Today's trek of 6 km leads us to the popular attraction of the entire trek that is the Kareri Lake at 3100m above sea level. The lake is fed by the melting snow of the Dhauladhar Range and remains frozen from early December to March-April which serves as the main attraction. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Shakti on a hilltop overlooking the lake. The views here are simply stunning! Overnight stay in tents.

Day 4: Kareri Lake to Kareri Village ( 13km trek ) to Dharamshala drive 35 Km

After breakfast we trek back to Kareri and from there we take a cab back to Dharamshala. End of services.
